We primarily offer cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which is a talking therapy that has been proven to be effective in managing anxiety and depression. CBT helps you manage your problems by helping you to make changes to the way you think and behave.

We will assess your needs and offer you the appropriate treatment to help get you back on track.

This may include:
Self Help Guides
We produce self help guides that give information on the condition you are experiencing and helpful ways to manage it.

Educational courses
Our courses provide education on topics related to stress, anxiety and depression. They run for 6 to 8 weeks and cover practical techniques and tips to help you learn to manage your mood in a supportive and friendly environment.

We are also pleased to be able to offer bespoke courses as part of our outreach programme. Please contact us for more details.

  • Let's Talk Low Mood
  • Let's Talk Stress and Anxiety
  • Let's Talk Mindfulness (Gloucestershire only)
By being aware of what you do and how you think, this course will provide you with skills and strategies to help you manage symptoms of low mood and depression. Using CBT, we would help you change your behaviours, which may be maintaining your low mood, and also challenge your negative thinking, which keeps you stuck in the vicious cycle of depression. We also run this course tailored to the needs of older people.
This course will help you to understand what stress and anxiety is and how your thinking and behaviours maintain it. Using CBT, we will help you learn skills and strategies to help you manage your stress and anxiety and break the negative vicious cycles. With the support from the facilitators and others on the course, we gently encourage you to face what you have been avoiding by using the techniques you have learnt on the course. We also run this course tailored to the needs of older adults.
Mindfulness is very helpful after you have therapy and are feeling more in control of your emotions. Learning to be mindful through meditating can keep you well. Learning to observe thoughts, feelings and body sensations non- judgementally helps you develop acceptance and quietens your mind, helping you to maximise the quality of your life. To get the most benefit from the course you will be encouraged to practice between sessions.

Guided Self Help
We also have manuals and a Books on Prescription Scheme, which describe in more detail how to improve your mood by using CBT. Whilst reading these books, a member of the Let’s Talk Team can offer you individual dedicated guidance and support, usually over the telephone.

Individual Therapy
Alternatively, we may suggest you come to see a therapist to talk in more depth about your individual circumstances and jointly develop a treatment plan to meet your needs. As with all our care, face-to-face therapy follows NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, www.nice.org.uk) guidance to provide the most appropriate intervention for your particular problems.

Whatever your journey with us, a member of our team will stay in touch with you and guide you through what can be a very difficult time in your life. There is sometimes a wait for some weeks before starting treatment. Whilst you wait, if your situation changes, get back in touch with us or your GP.
